Everyone knows the famous Star Trek line, “to boldly go where no one has gone before.” Now the Internet is penetrating the final frontier of privacy – your underpants – literally. Fundawear is technology that “beams” your touch to someone’s private places using a Smartphone App and Internet connection. Oh yeah, you also need specially made female lingerie and/or male underwear with tiny vibrating motors.

Durex in Sydney, Australia invented Fundawear—underwear allowing your partner (or yourself, we don’t judge) to remotely operate sensors sewn into undergarments to simulate touch over the Internet. It seems fitting that Fundawear comes from “the land down under.” (Sorry, it has to be said.) But they are serious and marketing this as the next big thing for relationships. Here’s a promotional video that tries to make this seem legitimate:

Fundawear claims that it allows you to transfer touch over vast distances. But let’s get real – this is high tech foreplay. And it can take masturbation to a whole new level. Not to mention the practical joke potential. Simply replace your friend’s underwear with Fundawear. Later in the day when they are at a business meeting you can provide them with some surprising stimulation!

There is also the potential to make otherwise mundane tasks A LOT more exciting. Imagine how Fundawear could spice up a day at the DMV waiting to get your license renewed. Your partner (or yourself) brings up the Fundaware app and the next thing you know you are smiling at the DMV, something you hardly ever see.

Will Fundaware bring a whole new universe of exotic fun? Or will it fall in the black hole of creepiness such as products like the Stadium Pal.

FYI – The Stadium Pal is an apparatus that attaches a tube to your “manhood” that connects to a bag attached to your leg. So you can drink all the beer you want and pee without having to actually go to a toilet. You don’t miss a single second of the game because of pesky bodily functions. And your legs stay warm to boot. Weird, right!

Not sure if this tingly tech for underwear is cool or creepy? But it is, as Spock would say with a raised eyebrow, “Fascinating.”

To commemorate CERN has restored world’s first website. Here it is:

http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/TheProject.html

Yep, the Web has definitely come a long way.

CERN developed the HTTP protocol and browsers standards that form the foundation of the Web, which are still used today. These standards have evolved but have kept the FREE spirit of the early Web. They officially made it FREE on April 30, 2013.

Since CERN made the WWW available on a royalty-free basis, this set stage for the Web we have all come to know and love. It makes one cringe to think about what would have happened if the greedy had got their hands on this vulnerable “baby” Web before it was set FREE for all the world to enjoy.

Happy Birthday WWW!

Disguised as an Internet security bill, CISPA short-circuits the 4th amendment by allowing the government access to your private online data without a warrant. No due process, you know that thing our Founding Fathers wrote into the core DNA of America! The controversial Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) recently passed the U.S. House and is on the way to the Senate where it may find an uphill battle. Let’s hope so!

If CIPSA passes then tech companies like Facebook, Google, Twitter, including your ISP and cell service provider (like AT&T), can legally give vast amounts of personal data to the U.S. government and its law enforcement — for whatever purpose it deems necessary — and face no legal retaliation.

This means the government will have unrestrained access to read your emails, access your bank accounts, and review you health records without you even knowing. And the privacy agreements with your ISP become legally void because CISPA shields big business from any legal recourse for sharing your private data. Furthermore, businesses will get assistance from the NSA (National Security Agency) with online security. This equates to a government subsidy allowing many companies to reduce security expenses thus increasing their profits at tax payer expense.

So CISPA gives government “Big Brother” access, big business solid legal protection plus government subsidies for online security expenses, and “we the people” get screwed by having our 4th amendment rights shredded.

If you are feeling a sense of digital deja vu, it’s because CISPA was spawned from equally bad bills from early 2012 called SOPA/PIPA. These bills passed the House. But after an online grassroots uprising, it failed the Senate. Now it has been resurrected in the current incarnation of CISPA with the same underlying fallacy – that online security requires violating personal privacy rights. However, most experts not under the monetary influence of big business lobby groups agree that sacrificing privacy is not required for improving online security.

Here’s more info on SOPA/PIPA:

Once Again Big Government Tries to Destroy the Internet – STOP SOPA and PIPA!

SOPA and PIPA get a Black-eye and a Blackout

The Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution states:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

The people who were ready to take up arms to protect their 2nd amendment to bear arms should be really pissed about this. And you would think a Congress that was so adamant to protect the 2nd would be as diligent to protect the entire Bill of Rights. But rights seem to considered collateral damage when weighted against the profits of big business and the “Big Brother” appetite for personal intelligence.

The hacker group Anonymous has called for a voluntary 24 hour Internet blackout on April 22, 2013 (Monday). This is similar to the 2012 protest of SOPA/PIPA that shined a light on these bills and led to their demise. Many notable websites, including Wikipedia, voluntary went offline displaying a single page protesting SOPA/PIPA. Many believe this self-imposed blackout shined a light on SOPA/PIPA that had otherwise been living in the shadows. It remains to be seen if this year’s online protest will have the same impact.

The glimmer of hope for privacy advocates is that CISPA could face the same fate as its big brother legislation SOPA/PIPA – it could die in the Senate. It also faces a possible veto from President Obama.

Let’s hope CIPPA will fade away and in doing so send a message to the power-at-be:

Do not sacrifice privacy under the false pretense of Internet security.

You Can Help Stop CISPA and save the Internet! Here are some online resources that can help you contact your congressman:

For the US House, go to http://www.house.gov and plug in your ZIP code in the top right to find out your district and representative.

For the US Senate, go to http://www.senate.gov and find your state in the top right.

What is SEO Health?

SEO stands for “search engine optimization” and it is the process of getting web traffic from the listings on search engines. The most effective way for improved SEO is by employing techniques to achieve “free” or “organic” better search results on the “big three” – Google, Yahoo and Bing.

There are many components to these SEO techniques just like there are many factors that influence physical health. Good health is not just one thing, but a combination of things including a healthy body, a good and steady diet, a social life with minimal stress, and friends with that share healthy values.

Here are 5 tips for better SEO health.

1. A Healthy Body

A good body is a sign of good health. (Not necessarily a Channing Tatum or Beyonce body with smoking ads, although that won’t hurt.) For good SEO health a website needs a healthy body, or more accurately, a good structure.

The phrase “good structure” sounds a bit boring and even geeky. But the HTML coding of an SEO healthy website needs to be structured so that it can easily be scanned and read by search engines. One of the easiest ways to do this is use WordPress. The structure of WordPress is SEO friendly and easy for the SEO spiders to scan.

Google LOVES WordPress websites. See the following Article:
http://www.prunderground.com/google-loves-wordpress-seo-dream-beginners/009070/

Here are a couple of FREE WordPress plugins that can help boost SEO:

All in One SEO Pack
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack/
Go to the following line and scroll to the bottom of the page for more on how to use the All-in-One-SEO-Pack:
http://www.biologyoftechnology.com/tech-tips-just-for-you/

Google XML Sitemaps
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/google-sitemap-generator/

2. A Healthy Diet

You are what you eat. Most everyone agrees that a a good diet is essential for good health. For good SEO a website needs a steady and good diet of healthy content.

On the Web, content is king. Search engines have stated that creating quality content is the best way to rank for keywords. And it helps create a positive user experiences.

An important part of content is an SEO phrase. An SEO phrase is a short description of a website that is 160 characters or less including the site name and keywords. The trick is to use these keywords in coherent sentences. For example, for the keywords “technology” and “kitten” (hey, it could happen) here is a potential SEO phrase for TechAdvocate Solutions:
TechAdvocate Solutions can make your technology purr like a kitten.

This SEO phrase should be included on the home page and in an SEO plugin.

3. Healthy Social Networking

A healthy social life helps maintain a positive outlook which is vital to robust health. In terms of SEO this translates into social media. Putting links to a website on a Facebook page promotes traffic and increases SEO. The idea is to use social networking to drive traffic to a website and not the other way around.

The most important social networks are Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Linkedin (for business sites).

Here is one example of a FREE WordPress plugin that will encourage others to share your posts on social media:
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/twitter-facebook-google-plusone-share/

4. Good Company – Backlinks

Associating with others who have a healthy lifestyle helps entourage good habits and better health. Linking (backlinks) is a way to put a website in good company. A backlink is simply a link to a website in another website (including social media).

Obviously, one of the best ways to create links is social media. Another way is to publish on other sites. Publishing is more conventional way to create links, but requires a bit more work.

5. Good Health Looks Good

Nothing says good health like looking good. Pictures on a website increase appeal and attract search engines. But large bloated picture files can actually hurt SEO as well as slow down a website. Google penalizes search engine ranking if pictures are large and hog bandwidth. The biggest offender are pictures transferred from a Smartphone without resizing for a website. Most Smartphone picture files are around 1 MB, but pictures on a website should be less than 200 KB.

Here’s a Biology of Technology post to help keep website pictures “lean-and-mean.”
That’s no bazinga.

Even more impressive is that the nerd-centric show is in it’s sixth season and it’s ratings are still on the rise. Most TV shows of this age are watching their ratings decay and “jumping the shark” to keep viewer-ship. (Idol anyone?)

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to do the math. With other “nerdy” shows like Glee on the air and self-proclamation nerds like Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert on the top of their game, it’s a golden age for geeks. Even the 2012 presidential election felt the power of geekdom. Nate Silver, who is sometimes described as a nerd, became all-the-rage after using math to accurately predict the landslide victory for President Obama. Go math!

Speaking as a geek, all I can say is – may The Force be with us.

Watch The Big Bang Theory Thursday nights at 8PM on CBS. Or you can catch the reruns in syndication just about anywhere (check your local listings).

Here’s a clip from The Big Bang Theory to wet your appetite.

The video features 27-year-old Havard Rugland from Norway performing awesome tricks and kicks, which includes nailing 60-yard field goals and a precision kick hitting a football that is in flight with another football.

Here’s the amazing video appropriately names “Kickilious” with over 1.7 million views (and growing):

The video got Rugland noticed and was invited to the US to work with a kicking coach. He also got a tryout with the New York Jets. It’s rumored he has been ask back for a second Jets tryout, which is a really good sign.

A little online exposure can go a long way to making dreams come true.

Hey, if viral video discovery worked for Justin Bieber, it could work anyone.

I’ve heard about iPhone problems, but until recently my iPhone 4S has been the perfect companion. I even found myself bragging about my Apple device like the an annoying fan-boy. But all good things come to an end. It started with WiFi problems (the on-off switched was greyed out), apps would crash (Kindle and Audible died upon opening), and sometimes email would “spin” and never retrieve.

I thought my happy iPhone days were over, until I found the iPhone freezer trick. Hard to believe this helped, but putting my iPhone in the freezer for about 30 minutes helped fixed some of the problems. Here are the cold, hard facts from my iPhone freezer experiences.

How to put and iPhone on ice.

Power-down the iPhone

Put iPhone in a zip-lock bag

Put iPhone in zip-lock in the freezer

Find something to do for about 30 minutes
Here’s is suggestion – Talk to a neighbor (in person, because your phone is in the freezer)

Retrieve your iPhone

Power-up
FYI – the screen may be foggy from frost. It will go away.

After doing this I could connect to WiFi and my apps worked! I was amazed!
However, after about 20 – 30 minutes I lost the WiFi connection and could not reconnect (spinning wheel on WiFi screen). But the good news is, the freezer tricked seem to fix the crashing apps and email issues.

And now a warning – after rebooting my iPhone it started having the same problems, the most annoying being the crashing apps. But after another 30 minutes in deep freeze my iPhone apps worked and I got another 30 minutes of WiFi.

I spent MANY hours reading support threads after my iPhone started acting-up. Seems like iPhone issues pop-up like kudzu after upgrading to iOS 6. So don’t upgrade to the new iOS until there is a new patch (assumed to be iOS 6.1). The official solutions is to get a new iPhone. But the freezer trick can help if you don’t have the time (or energy) to go to the Apple sore and talk to a kid at genius bar and reconfigure a new iPhone.
